Carbon Art and Design, given its name by the carbonized beams on which the building was rebuilt, rises in its new form as an art gallery and design studio with low cost rental studios and sales spaces.
"Pushing the boundaries of creative freedom within my chosen community is what motivates me the most! So many of the people I draw my inspiration from have championed brave and singular visions against backdrops of the safe and the banal. If I see something missing from the life of my community I want to fill that void."
Gallery Director and Curator Hri Neil
The peak season (May - November) is dedicated to two week exhibitions of work by contemporary artists, with a strong focus on local and regional artists as well as a commitment to both solo exhibitions and thematically curated group shows. While the late fall and early winter season focuses on the commercial sale of fine craft.
From January to May, the space is opened up to other curators, artists and musicians for the presentation of their work to our community at a low (or no cost) based on the merit/commercial viability of their proposals.
